Facts About LGBTQ Youth

I’m a huge supporter of LGBT youth – being out to give them role models and to make it easier for them (to change the view of society).  I remember being bullied in school and I wasn’t even out of the closet yet.  I thought about suicide and worried about how people would treat me when I did think about coming out.  I drank a lot, smoked cigarettes, and abused drugs to help me deal with the stress.  I wouldn’t go back to those days but I remember them so that I can help people who are living it right now or who are still healing from those wounds.  Make sure you check out the second image too.  It shows how far we come so far and how it really is getting better in the US to be LGBTQ.

When I was in high school a friend of mine got in a fight with me and spread the rumor that I was gay (little did she know she was right!). It was awful! I grew up in a very, very small town where NO ONE was openly gay. I felt incredibly alone and depressed for a long time. Luckily I moved away when I went to college, met my wife, and made some great friends.

What’s your story? Were you bullied in school? Please post here!
