Where the Magic Happens

Get the heck out of your own way!

Ever have that little voice in your head say something negative to you?  Maybe it said you weren’t good enough, pretty enough, or smart enough.  Maybe it told you that you didn’t deserve to be dating someone wonderful and caring.  Maybe it told you that you can’t have it all or that you need to settle for what you have because it’s not okay to want more.  Whatever it said to you, it stopped you from getting something you wanted in life – a great relationship, a great career, a great body, or to just feel great about yourself!

Where the Magic Happens

The truth is, that little voice in your head that so often says negative things to you, is actually trying to protect you.  It’s trying to keep you in your comfort zone (even if your comfort zone makes you feel crappy!) because life outside your comfort zone can be, well, uncomfortable.  The only problem with staying in your comfort zone all the time is that most of the wonderful things in life are just outside of it.

“Life begins at the edge of your comfort zone.”  Neale Walsh

So, what do you do?  You can decide to continue living in your comfort zone which while comfortable, may also be boring, mediocre, passionless, lonely, and uninspired.  Or, you can get out of it and discover all the amazing things life has to offer – adventure, success, true love, passion, meaning, abundance, and much, much more.

It all starts by telling that little voice in your head, “Thanks, but no thanks, Buddy.”  Just start by taking that one small step.  Next decide to do something that makes you feel a little uncomfortable.  Maybe you sign up for a dance class you always wanted to take or you call an old friend you haven’t talked to in years.  Whatever it is for you, just do it.

And you know what’s really great?  The more you live outside your comfort zone and the more you tell that little voice, “Thanks, but no thanks,” the quieter it becomes until it’s just a whisper.  Just outside your comfort zone is where you will find and keep the love of your life, the career that gives your life purpose, and the courage to overcome adversity.  So, when it comes to choosing your comfort zone or a truly remarkable life, which will you choose?

So true. Thanks for the reminder.
